Maricela's Artwork offers the experience of a daring combination of eroticism, social commentary, a sense of humor, and a celebration of Life rooted in experience, meditation, dance, & multidisciplinary studies on Art, Nature, Evolution, Conception, and Growth. Challenging stereotypes with movement, color, and the profusion of intricacy, her message is an emotional and intellectually grounded call for Peace and the embrace of Life in all its forms...

Her work, which spans over thirty years, includes the use of traditional media, and Graphic Design elements. She has combined disciplined self-education, Yoga, and active meditation with Mentors. She has received art instruction at several educational institutions in Mexico and The United States.

Maricela was born in Mexico City where her work has been shown in many exhibitions, including collective shows curated by the Mexican Painters Association.

Her first US show occurred in 2008. Maricela has collaborated on various community projects, and has been welcomed to participate with the Visionary Art Community in over fifty shows in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Hawaii, including two solo Gallery shows. Maricela has also collaborated with San Francisco's Flame Lounge, and the exquisite Burning Man Entheon Village.

An important part of her collections has been created to bring focus and build awareness about Environmental Protection, Animals Rights, and the prejudice against Women and Non-Heterosexuals.

Maricela currently makes her home on the Big Island of Hawaii and is actively engaged in Visionary explorations and collaboration with her partner, Rio Gordon.

The following poem describes the Passion and Direction of Maricela’s current work:

 

 

"I am writing History with the best vocabulary I  can find. That is, I give colors  with the pleasure of my hands, and the movement of my brain dancing its answers, celebrating the privilege of having eyes.

I saw the shadow of my body, and the bubbles created by the movement of my arms on the bottom of the tub while taking a bath. I was baptized with pristine water, playful wind, the sun above my head, and colors dancing in the sky.

I surrender to sound and eyes multiply through my body. I have been called to express with my whole self, including every inch of my body, not just my brain.

I feel fire, healthy rivers of blood, and the thorns of beautiful  red roses reminding me of their humble roots. This is the time, it is twilight on wedding day, and I am a Bride.

I find fulfillment in every step trusting itself  to incorporate with others in a dancing chain. Everything is Divine, the Origins are the same, Fractals are everywhere.

I am a communicating vessel and I have grown wings to fly, because supreme beauty is keeping equilibrium while walking on a ridge with the abyss at both sides.
